Nathwani and Singh leave for the 116th Edition Amateur Championship of India

Event will be hosted at the 175 year old Royal Calcutta Golf Club in Kolkata

TWO National team athletes Jay Nathwani and Prabvir Singh have been invited to compete Amateur Championship of India  that tees off this weekend,

The now over a century old seven day event organized for the 116th time by Indian Golf Union (IGU) at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club in Kolkata runs December 5th to 11th and is expected to invite golfers from across the world to celebrate golf as made in India.

According to golf governing body TGU, the two leave the country December 3rd ahead the scheduled December 5th round of golf and registration before Day 1 of Stroke play round that will offer an opportunity to qualify for the 32 field Match Play championship.

If they make the cut for the top 32, Chairman Joseph Tango revealed that the Tanzanians will be in a poll positing to play the quarter finals on December 9th in preparation to feature in the 36 hole finals scheduled for December 11.

Tango says: “This is a massive opportunity. The event comes with a huge opportunity for exposure and we hope the boys will learn and improve their game. Hopelly they will make the cut to the finals and enjoy the full seven days of the event.”
