GOLF development among ladies has received a double boost following Tanzania Golf Union’s decision to centralize all golf development activities under a single roof.
According to Union Chairman Joseph Tango, the drive was a deliberate attempt to encourage more golf among women but most important motivate golf development from household level.
Tango said: “We want to attract more players from our homes and women could become our greatest ambassadors. They will bring their husbands along with their children and we feel this is a healthy undertaking for the future of golf in the country.”
The positive stride will see both the TLGU (Ladies golf body) and their men counterparts form a closer working relationship that will focus attention on attracting people to the sport and providing the right support for clubs.
The initiative will also see open up the game of golf to people of all ages and abilities, and make the swing sport accessible from the household as it will promote a more inclusive and friendly approach towards newcomers, ensuring they can play golf regularly.
The chairman noted that most golf facilities across the country were already backing a national campaign for golf development saying the ongoing junior golf development in affiliate clubs is becoming a wonderful success story.
Golf is known to be a great sport because it offers great health benefits, allowing participants to improve their fitness in a fun and sociable way. The interaction therefore comes at the right time when people of all ages seek to engage in a lifetime activities.
“Raising our game is very important. While we support our affiliate clubs with equipment and coaching personnel, we are committed to strengthening a positive pathway towards sustainable golf. Our ladies can provide a morale boosting pill in golf development as we seek to introduce a wider bank of newcomers into the bulging national golf family.,” Tango said.
