The 36 holes two-day tournament Organised by the club in collaboration with Tanzania Golf Union (TGU), the 36- hole tournament was earlier scheduled to tee off this Saturday and wind up on Sunday. Lugalo golf club captain, Japhet Masai confirmed to the ‘Daily News’ yesterday that the tournament has been postponed until further notice. Masai, however, said reasons behind cancelation of the event was inclement of the weather due to a downpour. The tournament which was to be for the first time bankrolled by Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) would be staged after the end of the rainy season when the course becomes user friendly. “Club is well prepared for this weekend Lugalo Open tournament; it’s an event that supposed to open this year’s TGU events calendar. “But we have decided to postpone at the last moment because of the extended rainy season,” he said. Masai, however added that all preparations for the event so far have been finalized ready for golfers’ showdown. “The preparation is finalised, the course is ready to hosts golfers so do other important arrangements. “The downpour in the city has forced to abandon our plan, since it is not wise to put players in the course at this condition,” he said.
